Video Games and Digital Fiction/Poetry

Many of the digital fictions and poetry we covered in class behaved similarly to video games. Like video games, digital literature requires human interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback. Some games (with or without an educational intent) follow a storyline, which can blur the not-so-definitive line between digital literature and video games. The game-like features in digital works can actually detract from the value of the literature itself and often shrouds the message that the author is trying to convey, but if it were removed from its digital medium, it would lose something of its aesthetic function.
