While mapping “Araby”, studying the route that the narrator takes reveals several things about his character. For one, he is very determined, traveling nearly three miles late at night via tram, train, and on foot. (We color coded the route afterwards, but didn’t have enough time to embed it.) Also, the final route is an approximation, because the train would have actually dropped the narrator off slightly northwest of the bazaar, which is the southern-most point on the graph. All in all, the project was very enjoyable and the group enjoyed that “mapping” the story seemed a bit more helpful to understanding the story than the networking from last week.
